Aya & Luca play inclusive football

Aya and Luca were playing football with other kids when a new boy appeared.

He just watched and said nothing.

“Want to play?” shouted Luca.

The boy shook his head.

“I’m no good.”

“Neither am I,” said Luca cheerfully.

They made space and he joined timidly.

At first, the boy missed every pass.

Then he made one.

Then another.

When he scored his first-ever goal, everyone cheered!

“What’s the score?” he asked, breathless.

The children looked at each other.

Nobody knew.

“You aren’t counting??” he asked in disbelief.

Aya shook her head.

“Then how do you know who won?”

They looked around the field.

One girl had learned to pass.

A smaller boy touched the ball for the first time.

Two kids who had fought that morning now laughed together.

And the new boy was no longer watching from the side.

Luca shrugged.

“I think we all did!”

Someone kicked the ball.

And they ran after it.
