Go to the Balcony

Go to the Balcony

Pause. Don’t react. Consider options. Act positively

Improve the working relationship

Use Case: Manage emotions and difficult interactions positively

Purpose

Maintain our composure and save relationships by choosing from alternative pause techniques and acting positively to pursue our true interests.

When to Use

Any time one of our hot buttons is pressed, triggering an emotional reaction, typically in more adversarial negotiations, with people we find challenging to deal with, or with those closer to us (with whom we tend to use fewer filters).
