Aya & Luca and the paper doves 🕊️

Aya and Luca helped the teacher hang paper doves around the classroom.

“What are they for?” Luca asked.

“Today is the International Day of Peace.”

Aya asked surprised,
“There is a special day for peace?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

The teacher smiled.

“So that we remember how important it is.”

Luca frowned.

“Is there an International Day of Breathing?”

“No...”

“Or an International Sunrise Day?”

The teacher laughed.

“No!”

“Why not?” asked Aya.

“Because those things happen every day.”

The children got quiet.

Luca looked again at the paper doves.

“So we have a Day of Peace because peace doesn’t happen every day?”

The teacher stopped smiling.

Aya took one of the doves from the table and held it carefully.

“I wish that one day we won’t need this day anymore.”
